Repairing Air Compressors

1. Air compressor not working

a. Reason:

• The power supply or an active protection device is damaged or malfunction occurs.

b. How to repair:

• Check and read errors on the air compressor display.

• Check the power supply for any problem, weak or shorted.

• Check if the compressor protection relays are working.

• Check the phase order of power supply to the air compressor to see if it is reversed, if the reverse phase does not run.

2. Air compressor is working but idling

a. Reason:

• Air compressors can be run with or without load. The suction valve of the machine will open and close depending on the amount of compressed air used and is controlled by the solenoid valve system.

b. How to repair:

• Check the control wire of the solenoid valve.

• Check the power supply cord to the air compressor solenoid valve.

• When the machine is running check if the suction valve is open.

3. The air compressor is working, then suddenly stops

a. Reason:

• This is a common fault of the machine in the summer, the machine stops simply due to high temperature leading to thermal overload.

b. How to repair:

• Replenish lubricating oil and cooling oil if depleted.

• Make sure the engine room is cool and ventilated.

• Check the oil temperature control valve.

• Check if the air compressor cooling fan is damaged.

• Dirty lubricating oil clogs the engine.

4. The air compressor works weakly or does not create enough pressure

a. Reason:

• Due to low demand for compressed air or because compressed air is leaking somewhere in the pipeline.

b. How to repair:

• Check and compare the pressure difference before oil separation and after oil separation. If there is an abnormality, it is possible that the oil separator or the air filter has a problem.

• Check that the suction valve is working properly or not.
